What does Microsoft FrontPage let me do?
FrontPage is a dynamic HTML editor that allows you to create and publish documents right to your web site without having to know any HTML and without needing to use an FTP program.
What versions of FrontPage do you support?
Our servers are compatible with FrontPage 2000, which is backwards-compatible with FrontPage 97 and FrontPage 98. Users are encouraged to upgrade to FrontPage 2000 because of its simplified user interface, and enhanced capabilities.
How much is it going to cost for FrontPage support?
Opt2.net bundles FrontPage extensions free with all web hosting accounts.
Which FrontPage web bots does Opt2.net support?
Opt2.net currently supports all the built-in web bots that come standard with FrontPage.
How fast of a modem do I need to use FrontPage?
Microsoft recommends that you have at least a 28.8kbps modem in order to use the "live" publishing features.
Which parts of FrontPage don't you support?
We do not support custom web bots, database connectivity, or multiple authors.
I'm trying to use Microsoft's Web Publishing Wizard (not FrontPage) to upload my site. It tells me that my postinfo.html file could not be interpreted.
Opt2.net does not support FrontPage publication via Microsoft's Web Publishing Wizard. Change your Web Publishing Wizard settings to use "FTP" to upload your files. You may need to specify an upload destination of "/htdocs".
Where do I find the results of the FrontPage form "save results" web bot?
Microsoft FrontPage extensions place the results of the "save results" web bot in your _private directory. In order to view this directory, you must log on using FrontPage Explorer and open the _private directory from the directory listing.
I'm getting shtml.dll or shtml.exe "file not found" errors when using FrontPage dynamic components such as form processors and search script.
You are not uploading your site using one of the supported methods, or your site was not uploaded correctly. Please visit our FrontPage tutorial for information on how to upload or publish your site.
The most common reason for this error is the use of FTP to publish your files. Do not mix FTP and FrontPage. In addition, make sure that when publishing your site, that you specify the full URL of the site you wish to publish to, i.e. "http://www.yourname.com".
How do I restrict access using Frontpage?
You will want to first make sure that you are online before opening Frontpage. Once you open up your root web using Frontpage, you will want to go to the Tools menu and scroll down to Permissions. Here you can assign usernames, passwords, and restriction levels to restrict access using Frontpage.
When trying to publish using Frontpage, the web publishing wizard pops up and asks me for an FTP Server address and other stuff. What is this and what's wrong?
This message will appear if one (or both) of two things have not been done prior to using Frontpage:
1) You have not installed Frontpage extensions on your account yet. This can be done off the customer control panel.
2) You were not online when you opened up Frontpage. You'll need to save what you have done, close Frontpage, go online, and then try and publish again. If you continue to have problems, see #1 or contact Opt2.net.
Can I use Microsoft Access and ODBC with FrontPage?
No. Currently this is only supported on the Windows NT hosting platform, Opt2.net currently only uses reliable UNIX-based systems.
